Stolen License Plate Leads to Arrest for $1.5K in Shoplifting

A stolen license plate led investigators to the recovery of about $1,500 in merchandise allegedly stolen from West Michigan stores.

The investigation began the morning of Saturday, Aug. 24, when a Walmart shopper noticed the license plate was stolen off their vehicle, according to a press release from the Mason County Sheriff’s Office.

Review of surveillance footage from the Walmart store in the 4800 block of U.S. 10 east of Ludington resulted in the identification of male and female subjects who also were suspected of stealing “numerous items,” according to the news release.
