The National Retail Federation today announced that it has hired veteran loss prevention expert David Johnston as vice president for asset protection and retail operations.
“David Johnston brings a wealth of knowledge to NRF within the loss prevention and asset protection sector,” said NRF Chief Marketing Officer and EVP of Content and Membership Martine Reardon. “David joins NRF at a critical time when the retail industry is facing an increase in annual shrink and organized retail crime. His industry experience and knowledge will further elevate NRF’s loss prevention programs, communications, and advocacy work.”
A career retail professional, Johnston has more than three decades of asset protection experience across various retail segments. Prior to joining NRF, he served as senior director of loss prevention and corporate security for Inspire Brands. His experience also includes roles with Dunkin’ Donuts, LP Innovations, micros|Datavantage, and former retailers J. Baker Inc. and Jordan Marsh.
Johnston has also been a longstanding member of NRF’s Loss Prevention Advisory Council and a featured speaker at NRF PROTECT.
