Suspect Charged in $500,000 Theft from Jewelry Store [Viral Video]

Police filed larceny and breaking-or-entering charges against one man in an early morning, $500,000 theft from a North Carolina jewelry story in Cary Towne Center last month and said they are looking for a second man. Danny Thomas Goldston, Jr., 31, was served with arrest warrants at the Wake County Detention Center, where he has been in custody since May 12, when he was arrested on kidnapping, car theft, misdemeanor assault and probation-violation charges.

The Artisan Jewelers store was broken into about 5 a.m. on May 7. Police released a security-camera video showing the men going into display cases in the store.
Police charged Goldston with one felony count of breaking or entering for allegedly going into the mall and one count for allegedly going into the store. The surveillance videos show one of the thieves opening a showcase with what looks like a crowbar or a hammer and then dumping jewelry into a bag that the other was holding.

With bail for the three new charges, Goldston is being held in lieu of a total of $370,000. Goldston is also charged with false imprisonment and resisting an officer and with habitually committing misdemeanor assault. He also was indicted in 2015 on a charge of felony probation violation. That case is on a court calendar for June 26. Goldston has a record of convictions for both felony and misdemeanor breaking or entering and felony and misdemeanor larceny. On April 2, a judge put Goldston on two years’ probation with a 2015 break-in and theft.   [Source: The News & Observer]
