Jac Brittain, LPC

Jacque “Jac” Brittain, LPC is editorial director for LP Magazine, the premier news and educational publication for the loss prevention/asset protection professional. Published in print bi-monthly, the magazine is also available in digital format with supplemental content published on its website, weekly e-newsletters, podcasts, EyeOnLP videos, and via social media networks. In addition to his contributions to the magazine, Brittain also serves as director of learning design with The Loss Prevention Foundation and LPM Media Group. Prior to joining the magazine, Brittain served as a director of learning design and certification, where his responsibilities included design, development, and implementation of award winning e-learning content. Online-based training initiatives included programs developed for retail loss prevention, interview and interrogation, law enforcement, health/medical, safety, transportation, supply chain, hazard communication, workplace violence, active shooter, youth services, and other interactive learning experiences. In this role, he also managed the development of the loss prevention industry’s only internationally sanctioned LP credentials—the LPQualified (LPQ) and LPCertified (LPC) courses in collaboration with the Loss Prevention Foundation. Working closely with hundreds of the loss prevention industry’s top leaders and subject matter experts in the development of the courses, the LPC and LPQ certifications are accepted for academic credits at both the bachelor and master’s levels at colleges and universities across the United States, and continue to draw interest from retail councils across the globe. Brittain previously served as vice president of operations for the largest executive search and consulting firm in the nation specializing in the retail loss prevention industry. Partnering with company leadership across the country, the primary mission involved the identification, evaluation, and assessment of our nation’s best loss prevention professionals to secure talent in key positions nationwide. This required extensive knowledge of company programs, culture, and approach to provide the best possible match for both the companies and the candidates. The role also included the privilege of providing guidance and career counseling for thousands of industry professionals as they have progressed through their careers. In his thirty-plus years in the loss prevention industry, Brittain has worked in various retail formats; holding positions with increasing responsibilities while helping build and enhance many different programs across the country. His diverse background provides a rich but unique perspective on the industry and the loss prevention community. Brittain holds a bachelor of science degree in sociology from the University of Akron, and an associate of applied sciences degree in recreation and wildlife management/law enforcement from Hocking College. He has attended a federal law enforcement academy, and holds various industry designations to include the LPCertified certification.
