Woman Injures LP Associates; Police Officer after Shoplifting

A police officer was hospitalized and two employees at a Long Island Stop & Shop were injured when a woman became combative after allegedly attempting to steal from the grocery store.

Police said that at approximately 6:45 PM on Thursday, April 16, Center Moriches resident Jemella Gilpin, 40, allegedly walked into Stop & Shop on Long Beach Road in Oceanside.

Once inside, Gilpin allegedly took multiple items from the shelves and attempted to leave without paying. When she was confronted by two store employees, a 39-year-old man and 60-year-old man, she flailed her arms causing them both to suffer minor injuries…  Suffolk Daily Voice
