Theft Leads to Foot Chase

A Columbia County man was charged with leading police on a foot chase after allegedly stealing merchandise from the Walmart on Fairview Avenue, Columbia County Sheriff David Bartlett said Tuesday.

Everett G. Rasso, 37, of Hudson (New York), was charged with concealing and destroying physical evidence, a class E felony; and petty larceny and resisting arrest, both class A misdemeanors, according to a statement from Bartlett. Shannan Kipp, 28, also from Hudson, was charged with providing a false written statement, class A misdemeanor, according to Bartlett.

Columbia County 911 assigned the Sheriff’s Office after receiving a call from Walmart Loss Prevention Department employees at about 10:26 a.m., reporting that they had confronted a male individual leaving the store without paying for merchandise.
