The USS Foundation’s Fifth Annual Thanksgiving Care-A-Van Reaches Record Number of Families

The USS Foundation, a charitable, non-profit organization dedicated to helping families experiencing financial difficulties, partnered with the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department to bring its Thanksgiving Care-A-Van to more than 200 families in underserved populations in Southern California on Tuesday, November 22, 2016.

While the USS Foundation and San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department partnered to organize and conduct the Care-A-Van, the charitable event was also sponsored and supported by several local organizations including Stater Bros., Inland Paper Company, Engrave N’ Embroider Things of Rancho Cucamonga and the Fox Giving Fund.

Each family was gifted with an entire holiday meal, complete with a whole turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, apple pie and a roasting pan to prepare the food in.

“The people that make up our surrounding communities are a part of our organization’s DNA” said USS Foundation founder Adel Sayegh. “It is an honor and a privilege to be able to give back by aiding in the opportunity for at least 200 households to enjoy a warm meal and gather with loved ones for the holiday, especially during this time of the year,” he said.

Sayegh expressed his gratitude to the organizations and volunteers, who assisted in making the event the most wide-reaching and impactful Care-A-Van to date.

“We’re extremely grateful to our generous sponsors and selfless volunteers,” he said. “Their contributions helped us reach and touch the lives of more families than we ever have.”
