Shoplifter Charged after Biting, Pepper Spraying LP Associates

An Illinois woman’s alleged quest to shoplift shirts from Southlake Mall ended with her trying to pepper spray one guard and biting another in the wrist, records show.

Michele Gray, 18, of Country Club Hills, Illinois, is charged with two counts of felony attempted armed robbery and three counts of felony battery, charging documents state. Macy’s loss prevention guards Phillip Deel and Wyatt Johnson started trailing Gray after a store manager reported she was acting suspiciously, records show. On video surveillance and on the store’s sales floor, they saw her removing tags on two athletic shirts and hiding them in her purse, documents said.
