Grandma and Granddaughter Caught Shoplifting

On the busiest shopping day of the year, the Saturday before Christmas, police said 53-year-old Cornelia Vance tried to slip past security at the east side Waukesha (Wisconsin) Target. She’s charged with stealing $900 worth of stuff but was stopped by police as she got to the door.

“They said I was trying to steal it, but I wasn’t because I had credit cards. I had money. I was going to go up to the register until I heard her yelling,” Vance said.

Vance said security had already stopped her 13-year-old granddaughter for theft but denied either were trying to steal. Vance is accused of fighting with police and was injured when her face hit the pavement.

“I don’t think I was resisting, you know? I’m 53, I’m probably about 140 pounds. This was a big 300-pound man and there was some more officers. There was nothing, they didn’t need to do this to refrain me,” Vance said. According to the complaint… WISN12 News
