Facebook Post Leads to Arrest of Suspects in Shoplifting Case

The Hoover (Alabama) Police Department is thanking the public after a Facebook post allowed detectives to track down two shoplifting suspects.

On August 12, the department asked for the public’s assistance identifying two people shown in images connected to a shoplifting case at Academy Sports on Highway 150. Investigators said the pair concealed over $3,000 of merchandise in bags and left the store on August 9. Following the post, detectives said they received numerous tips.

Stevie DeWayne Winstied, 42, of Pell City is charged with theft of property first degree. Tiffany Annette Cline, 39, also of Pell City, is charged with theft of property first degree. Both were booked in the Jefferson County Jail on $15,000 bonds. They both posted bond and were released.

“Hoover PD wants to thank all those who came forward with information to assist Detectives in this investigation,” the department posted on Facebook. “We are grateful for your commitment to help keep the community safe…”  Tribune Interactive
