Employee Accused in 57 Golf Club Thefts

A former employee is accused of 57 golf club thefts from the Arizona Biltmore over four months. Court records show that the Arizona Biltmore Golf Club reported 57 golf club thefts valued at over $13,000 in total. Police say there was a rumor that James Johnson, 23, may be responsible for the theft.

Management took inventory of the golf clubs and verified the missing amount. They then allegedly asked Johnson to do an inventory and report back to them. Johnson reportedly told them that all the clubs were accounted for, and none were missing.

On October 17, management informed Phoenix police that several of the clubs were being sold on Offer Up. When police contacted the sellers, they were told that they were re-selling the clubs that they bought from Johnson. Upon his arrest, Johnson allegedly admitted to taking the clubs while he was employed there. He has been charged with… ABC15 News
