Caught on Camera: Clerk, Good Samaritan Pummeled by Shoplifter

Chaos erupted at a Bronx store when a woman caught shoplifting punched both a store clerk and Good Samaritan in the face, police said. Video released by the NYPD Saturday shows the altercation at the entrance of the Dollar General at Prospect Avenue and E. 166th Street in the Morrisania section last Thursday night.

Police said a 27-year-old clerk spotted a woman trying to steal nine packs of wipes in a bag. When the clerk and a Good Samaritan confronted the woman, the suspect punched them both in the face, police said. Video shows multiple punches being thrown in a chaotic scene by the entrance doors.

Police said the clerk managed to get the wipes back before the suspect pushed the Good Samaritan away and ran off. It’s unclear if the clerk or Good Samaritan suffered any serious injuries in the attack. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800.577.TIPS…  1010WINS
