Suffolk County Police said a 7-Eleven clerk has been charged with manslaughter after allegedly stabbing a man who had been shoplifting, officials said.
According to police, Conroy Jarman, who works at the 7-Eleven store on Broadhollow Road in Huntington Station, confronted Raquan Jackson over some items allegedly stolen from the cooler and aisles. Jarman chased Jackson out of the store around 12:30 AM Thursday, police said, into a nearby parking lot.
That’s where another confrontation ensued and got physical, according to police, with Jarman ultimately stabbing the 31-year-old Jackson in the chest with a box cutter. He was pronounced dead at the scene, the medical examiner’s office said.
Police have not said if Jackson had any weapon on him, or exactly what happened during the fight outside the store. They also said it did not appear that the two men had crossed paths before.
Jarman, 29, was charged with second-degree manslaughter, Suffolk County police said. The Hempstead man will be held overnight and arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Friday…Â NBC4 News
