Arrests Made in More than Half of 825 ‘Organized Retail Crimes’

In North Carolina, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said their task force focusing on organized retail crime has worked more than 800 cases this year… and made arrests in more than half of them.

In many cases, investigators said thieves worked in groups and targeted big box stores where they walk out with thousands of dollars-worth of merchandise. “They use bully techniques, intimidation techniques, and that’s something that I, as a detective, won’t tolerate,” said Detective Anthony Finocchio.

“We’ve worked 825 “organized retail crimes” this year involving millions of dollars and made arrests in 425 of them. Finocchio said that intimidation leads to violence, and he’s working with prosecutors to push for tough sentences for suspects in those cases… WSOCTV9 News
