Interview and Interrogation Training: Attitudes and Biases

In this week’s WZ / IAI interview and interrogation training tip, Dave Thompson, CFI discusses the potential issue that interviewers can possess regarding an attitude or bias towards the subject. These biases can sometimes be in favor of the subject, such as a person whom the interviewer has had a prior relationship or contact with. In other circumstances, a bias could be against the subject as the result of past experiences or other irrelevant issues the interviewer is aware of.

An interviewer is held to a high standard in regards to ethics and their ability to give an unbiased perspective on the investigation. Remember, as an interviewer you are a mediator and a fact-finder. It’s always important to maintain an ethical and impartial approach to every interview.
