In 2019 CIS Security Solutions, a national specialty retailer, and the Loss Prevention Research Council (LPRC), coordinated to test a new product developed by CIS, the CIS Tick-R-Tape Tag, in two StoreLabs in Gainesville, Florida. These stores agreed to test the Tick-R-Tape tag on fragrances and holiday gift sets and measure the effectiveness of the Tick-R-Tape Tag protecting these items from shoplifters and ORC gangs. The LPRC then went to the stores and interviewed associates, customers, and known retail offenders who were cooperating with the LPRC, asking for their honest opinions. See the report here.
The Tick-R-Tape Tag can be used alone or secured to the package with conductive tape or a conductive label, creating additional alarm capabilities. It can replace wire package wraps and “keepers”. When the merchandise goes through the POS, the associate keeps the tag and leaves the base and tape on the package to go home with the customer for removal later, with no damaged packaging. 
This tag has 6-alarm capability when using two pieces of conductive tape and can self-alarm out the door while activating the EAS pedestals. Its 98 dBl alarm can be heard throughout the store. The Tick-R-Tape Tag uses an exclusive handheld decoder to deactivate the alarm before removing it from the package. This will prevent unauthorized detachers from being used successfully. The Tick-R-Tape Tag has unlimited life due to having a replaceable battery. It is water resistant and cannot be “jumped”.
In early 2020, CIS focused on testing and refining the younger sibling to the Tick-R-Tape Tag that is smaller, simpler, and discreet yet effective. The Mini Tape Tag can protect most items, with or without using the conductive tape or label. Prevent shoplifters from taking the product out of the box and leaving just the box—use the Mini Tape Tag to keep all the components together.
With dimensions of 2”w x ¾”h The Tick-R-Tape Tag can provide up to 630 percent more available shelf space compared to keepers and can provide up to 33 percent more available shelf space compared to small wire package wraps. Both the Tick-R-Tape Tag and the Mini Tape Tag can be placed anywhere on the package to optimize merchandising and visual appeal.
