The Hall exists to recognize, celebrate, and reward those in and around the retail loss prevention industry, honoring achievement and excellence across a variety of categories. It is intended to celebrate the lifetime achievements of industry leaders who have contributed so much to benefit the industry they have served.
They have cut the path for those who have followed. They are leaders of innovation, design, process, and policy. They have led an exemplary career, been a master of mentoring, and they have shared with others to help elevate professionals in loss prevention, enhancing the the industry, giving back, and paying it forward, to those who follow.
Community Champion of the Year
The Community Champion is someone who is active in their community and makes the time to participate, even when it may not be convenient to do so. They volunteer time, advocate for others in need, and work tirelessly to further the cause, whether it is to raise money, provide a service, or just to make the world a better place, even if that world is their own neighborhood.
Outstanding community service is at the heart of so many critical initiatives, and has a lasting, positive impact on our society as a whole. By recognizing, developing and celebrating our community service efforts we celebrate the meaning and spirit of giving back and paying it forward.

This Year’s Finalists
The 2021-2022 Finalists for the LP Hall Community Champion of the Year include:
Beth Ann Riley, Walmart Asset Protection Specialist
Beth Ann goes above and beyond, every day and in every way. She makes a real effort to make a difference in the lives of those in her community. She actively volunteers and is a member of the 2021 Citizens Academy. She is hard working and serves her community as both a certified pharmacy technician and in her role in loss prevention, looking to partner with area retailers and community organizations to help reduce theft and crime and keep the community safe. Her outreach to area police departments to help provide information to support local concerns over local living conditions and the well-being of her neighbors is appreciated and commendable. She is a champion in her community.
Vector Security Networks’ annual Loss Prevention Foundation (LPF) Scholarship Initiative
Vector Security Networks’ annual Loss Prevention Foundation (LPF) scholarships provide financial support to loss prevention professionals or hopefuls seeking to obtain LPQ and LPC certifications. Vector Security began awarding the scholarships in 2009 in support of career development and continuing education for those in the United States and Canada with aspirations to work in this important and rapidly evolving industry.
Nearly 300 scholarships have been awarded since the program began. The scholarships cover all course and examination fees for LPF’s Loss Prevention Qualified (LPQ) or Loss Prevention Certified (LPC) certifications.
“As the security needs of multi-site businesses continue to evolve, it’s important for loss prevention professionals to stay current on industry trends and solutions,” said Gary Fraser, Vice President of Sales for Vector Security Networks. Continuing education and certification in this field will help them meet the challenges of their profession.”
Anyone who is currently in the loss prevention industry or has an interest in a career in loss prevention can apply for an LPQ scholarship. Those applying for the LPC scholarship must meet certain eligibility requirements. Applications for either scholarship can be submitted via the Loss Prevention Foundation website.
Kevin Metcalf and the National Child Protection Task Force
The National Child Protection Task Force was founded to provide detectives, analysts, and officers access to investigative expertise and resources that are unavailable or under-funded in most law enforcement organizations. The members of the task force volunteer their time to any agency—small or large, international or local—on important, time-sensitive cases focused on human trafficking, child exploitation, and missing persons cases. With many of these cases tied to organized retail crime, Metcalf and his team work closely with many retail organizations as well to combat these crimes against our young people.
Metcalf is a former federal agent turned prosecutor and founder of the National Child Protection Task Force. He has assisted with the recovery of numerous missing and exploited children and the identification and apprehension of sexual predators in multiple states. His law enforcement experience ranges from local to federal over more than 20 years. His interest in the criminal use of mobile devices led to the development of a system that uses cellphone-related data in criminal cases focuses on the integration of legally derived information with open source information (OSINT).
The Loss Prevention Benevolent Fund (LPBF)
The Loss Prevention Benevolent Fund (LPBF) provides meaningful charitable grants to loss prevention and asset protection professionals and their families when it matters most—during times of serious injury or loss of life. In addition to distributing funds to the families of the fallen, the LPBF provides financial grants to eligible participants who experience a verifiable economic hardship as a result of qualifying circumstances. Situations that could qualify for a grant include serious medical issues, death of a dependent, natural disaster, no permanent shelter, homelessness, and so forth.
The loss prevention/asset protection profession can be dangerous when apprehending individuals who are trying to cause loss to our retailers. Unfortunately, even when the proper precautions are taken, injury and sometimes loss of life can occur. The LPBF helps bring the industry together to help show support to those families who experience a devastating loss of a loved one while on duty and help serve the challenging needs of our profession.
