The New England Organized Retail Crime Alliance (NEORCA) is thrilled to announce a successful 2024 ORCA Symposium at the Wayfair Corporate Offices in Boston, Massachusetts. NEORCA partnered with law enforcement agencies and NESPIN to host the 2024 event, supported by sponsorship from Auror, Target Corporation, Gatekeeper, and Thomson Reuters. The goal was to discuss current and future initiatives to disrupt and dismantle the threat of organized retail crime within the region.
The Symposium brought retail victims together with law enforcement, intelligence analysts, and prosecutors from local, state and federal government agencies. Ben Dugan, executive director of central investigations at CVS, opened the event as the keynote speaker and discussed the early shift of e-commerce in 2005 where online marketplaces were used to fence stolen merchandise and brought us to the current day. Other presenters included the district attorneys from Suffolk and Plymouth County, MA; Boston Police Department Deputy Superintendent Paul McLaughlin; Massachusetts state police; and the New England leadership for Homeland Security Investigations.
We thank all the retailers and law enforcement agencies who attended the symposium at Wayfair, Boston. We’re proud of the collaboration in New England and driving results to combat organized retail crime. We’re looking forward to announcing future NEORCA meetings next year.
Wayfair’s security team was an amazing host and support of this event. A special thanks to Gatekeeper, Checkpoint, and Axon for sponsoring LPC Scholarships for three lucky recipients in our raffle. NEORCA would also like to recognize Ryan Kearney, general council, and the Retailers Association of Massachusetts for supporting this event.
