Man sentenced to prison in California Store Shooting

A man acquitted of murder was sentenced to seven years in state prison after the fatal shooting over a bag of marijuana at the Emeryville, California Target store parking lot.

Cameron Smith, 23, was acquitted by a jury in April of first-degree and second-degree murder charges in the death of Eondre Bolton, 29. Smith was also acquitted of the attempted murder of another man, plus two counts of assault with a semi-automatic gun and shooting at an occupied vehicle.  Smith claimed self defense.  Smith took a plea deal on the remaining charge, involuntary manslaughter, and an enhancement clause that he used a gun, and was sentenced to seven years in state prison.  Smith is said to have had with him a large garbage bag full of several packages of marijuana. When Bolton and the other man tried to take some of it from him, Smith fired his gun.
