In 2017, the Loss Prevention Research Council (LPRC) worked together with retailer and solution provider members to complete 31 research projects and publish 31 full reports. These projects took place in eight working groups with monthly calls, along with three innovation chains. Projects and groups are sorted based on common interests, such as Violent Crime, Supply Chain, and Product Protection.
The 2017 IMPACT Conference was a culmination of this research and collaboration, an opportunity to present twenty research projects in poster session format, seven projects in Learning Lab breakout format, and three projects on the main stage. Over 300 LP executives attended and worked together to learn about 2017 findings that had occurred outside their own Working Group, and decide and plan LPRC’s 2018 research agenda.

Each year, three major milestones mark the LPRC research calendar:
- Late February: The LPRC’s Annual Research Agenda for the new year is published, letting members know what research projects will be conducted for the year (view 2018Â here)
- Early October: The IMPACT Conference is held at the University of Florida, where project results are presented to members in various forms (2018 info here)
- Late December: The Annual Research Catalog is published, featuring the results to all the previous year’s research projects in three formats: video clip summary, written abstract summary, and full research report.
The 2017 Research Catalog is now available and can be found here (video) and here (PowerPoint).
Cheers to a safe and productive 2018!
