The Loss Prevention Foundation has recently announced that all scholarships awarded from the “Swing for Certification” golf tournament will be named for LPF Board Member Emeritus Bob MacLea. The tournament is set for Sunday, June 10, at Bear Creek Golf Club in Dallas preceding the NRF PROTECT conference.
MacLea was a founding board member of the LPF in 2006 and served on the executive and audit committees until his retirement in October 2016. He spent his 41-year career in the loss prevention/asset protection profession. Sadly, MacLea passed away this past March.
“We are privileged to be able to name the Bob MacLea Scholarships for the Swing For Certification golf tournament,” said Terry Sullivan, LPC, president of the LPF. “Bob was a mentor to so many in our profession and was a true LP industry leader. He loved working in loss prevention and was an amazing philanthropist. It is an honor to name these scholarships, that will help professionals continue their education and advance their careers, after him.”
The event, which is open to all retailers and solution providers, will raise money to fund scholarships for LP professionals who want to advance their careers by obtaining their LPQ or LPC certifications.
Proceeds will also benefit industry charities, including the Loss Prevention Benevolent Fund and the USS Foundation; the legacy event sponsor.
