The Chicago Police Department’s Organized Retail Crime Task Force secured charges against a 22-year-old offender who stole more than $43,000 worth of merchandise from a Streeterville business. This offender was also wanted in multiple states for similar thefts.
On February 3, 2025, the offender entered the business and used sleight of hand movements to steal a high-end watch. The offender left the business undetected.
Organized Retail Crime Task Force detectives assigned to the investigation worked alongside fellow CPD members and other law enforcement agencies to identify the suspect. With assistance from the victimized businesses, detectives learned this suspect was wanted in similar thefts throughout the country.
Following three weeks of investigation, detectives secured an arrest warrant for the suspect. He was placed into custody in California, where he was at the time of the warrant issuance. Detectives secured an extradition warrant and arranged for the offender’s return to Chicago.
After his extradition back to Chicago on June 3, the offender was charged with one count of felony theft exceeding $10,000. He was also charged with two issuances of a warrant and four out of state warrants for fugitive from justice.
