Protection 1 Expands its Network Operations Center to Accommodate Rapid Security Only Networks Business Growth

Protection 1, the premier full-service business and home security company in the U.S., today announced that it has expanded its Network Operation Center (NOC) with a dedicated space to support its security only network applications for its enterprise and national account customers.

The expansion doubles the company’s capacity and allows for continued growth in this emerging market. Protection 1 now has over 45,000 network devices under management across 1,500 networks. The NOC has also further fortified its physical and virtual back-up capabilities as part of its disaster recovery programs and offers its customer 24/7/365 monitoring.

“Cyber-crime continues to be one of the greatest threats facing businesses of all sizes today,” stated Chris Ben Vau, Protection 1’s senior vice president of Integration Solutions. “Our customer base has grown across all industries this past year to include leading brands in retail, healthcare, technology, hospitality and financial institutions. The driving force behind deploying security only networks is the ability to allow organization to separate their security devices from those on the corporate network that house proprietary and customer data, providing another level of protection against new and existing forms of cyber-attacks.

The NOC employs a skilled team of engineers, project managers and technicians that design, deploy, monitor and manage a company’s security equipment network, implement and manage broadband connections, and design and implement VoIP systems. Some of the key advantages to implementing a security only network include higher bandwidth availability and speed and access to the network for loss prevention and security teams while not impacting business critical systems. Protection 1’s Network Operations’ monitoring center can also proactively notify customers of a potential problem with the network or its components before they become major issues.

In addition, the NOC can monitor the health of network-connected devices, such as IP cameras and recorders. Any trouble conditions prompt notification to NOC engineers for remote diagnostics and fix where possible, and proactive dispatch of a technician to remedy on-site if required. Health monitoring services help ensure that critical security systems have as little down-time as possible.

The NOC will also be used to design and deploy the company’s newest cyber security solutions targeted for small and medium-sized businesses and provide level one technical and escalation support and instances response monitoring.

“Research as shown that there as many as 14,000 new or variant malware or viruses unleashed every hour across the globe targeting individuals, corporations and government agencies. Protection 1 has the ability and capability to protect not only our customers’ physical assets but their logic or digital ones as well,” concluded Ben Vau.
