Siklu has recently announced that its Etherhaul™ mmWave radios have been installed as part of an extensive upgrade to the town center surveillance network in Burnley, which is located in Lancashire, England.
The 18 high-capacity, point-to-point mmWave links from Siklu reportedly deliver interference-free connectivity for 40 newly installed HD IP CCTV cameras from Hikvision to provide fiber-like performance, low latency and real-time HD quality that is now enabling not only recognition but also identification. The new wireless network and cameras are part of a Lancashire Hub CCTV Centralization Project, which was designed to consolidate multiple control centers into a single location.
With the Siklu mmWave EH-500TX and EH-600TX radios, Burnley Town Center can leverage the license free and lightly licensed V-band to deliver reliable connectivity with 99.999 percent link availability by operating over the uncongested 60GHz frequency and using narrow beams, which are immune to interference. The radios also support PoE out so that the Hikvision cameras can be wired directly into the Siklu radios, eliminating the need for additional switching hardware. With the new infrastructure in place, Burnley Town Center has improved its public safety and begun to build the foundation for a modern smart city.
The system was installed by OpenView Security Solutions Ltd (OSS), an installer of wireless and CCTV infrastructure with offices throughout the U.K. OSS integrated the new cameras with the HikVision iVMS-5200 Professional to create a reliable surveillance network. Siklu was selected by OSS after realizing Burnley Town Center needed an alternative wireless frequency because its existing traditional 5GHz infrastructure is associated with a high level of interference. The project also achieves further cost savings by significantly reducing and removing reoccurring leased line costs.
“Siklu’s best of breed wireless solutions enable the delivery of scalable and resilient network infrastructures that support the provision of the highest level of service,” said Andy Ward, sales director of OpenView Security Solutions. “The Lancashire Hub CCTV Centralization Project is now arguably one of the most advanced and robust networks in the country.”
“The Burnley Town Center project with OpenView Security Solutions represents an innovative approach to delivering interference-free connectivity with significant cost savings,” said Eyal Assa, CEO of Siklu. “We are excited to work with OpenView Security Solutions and to expand access to mmWave wireless networks across the U.K.”
The Siklu mmWave product line will be showcased during November at the Global MSC event, Bristol UK and at the Smart City Expo World Congress, Barcelona, booth #F691, where Siklu will also conduct a live demonstration.
