A 54-year-old man who allegedly complained a loss prevention associate (LPA) at a Redwood City, California, Grocery Outlet store was looking at him before stabbing him in the chest Saturday is facing 11 years to life in prison after felony charges were filed against him, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office
Behind bars on $10 million bail, Anthony Webb pleaded not guilty to his charges of attempted murder, felony assault with a deadly weapon and infliction of great bodily injury when he appeared in court Monday, so the county’s private defender program was appointed to his case, according to prosecutors.
Webb is said to have purchased a few items from the Grocery Outlet in Redwood City and approached the LP associate , who was wearing plain clothes and standing near the door, on his way out of the store. As he passed by the LPA, Webb allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the man in the chest, according to prosecutors.
As police officers and paramedics rushed to the scene, Webb allegedly stayed in the store until his arrest. The LP associate was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but is expected to recover, according to prosecutors. Â [Source: The Daily Journal]
