Police said that a security guard at an H-E-B store in Northeast Austin was acting in self-defense when he shot an armed shoplifter last Friday. The shoplifter had allegedly lunged at the guard with a knife before the guard tried to tase him, and then shot him.

A 30-year-old man suspected in the theft of groceries in Oregon was arrested last Wednesday with the aid of a drone unit after the suspect fled from authorities. The drone captured the suspect’s location via his heat signature.

Man Shot and Killed after Chasing Suspected Shoplifters in Houston
A 46-year-old man was fatally shot Tuesday evening after confronting two suspected shoplifters in West Houston. The man used pepper spray on the suspects and chased them down the sidewalk. At some point, the suspects pulled out guns and fired, hitting and killing the man.
