Denise Wynn

Denise Wynn, LPC, CFI, Assistant Vice President Director of National Investigations, The TJX Companies, Inc.

“My father, the retired Chief of Police for Denver, Colorado, once addressed an emerging leader workshop I was facilitating and was asked, ‘What does leadership look like to you, Chief?’ He answered, ‘There are lots of examples of what leadership looks like, but more importantly, you sure know when you don’t see it.’ His insight provided a clear picture that day and will always guide my actions and decisions,” said Wynn.

Although she planned on following in her father’s footsteps, Wynn’s introduction to loss prevention began while working as a retail cashier in high school. One day, the LP Manager asked for assistance as he was exiting to apprehend a shoplifter, and she was hooked. She continued to learn and grow, taking on positions with additional leadership responsibility. In 2022 she will be celebrating 35 years with TJX.

Wynn believes her passion to identify, train, develop, and nurture others has led to some of her greatest accomplishments. “Leadership requires self-care, developing quality relationships, and having a strong commitment to continuous personal and professional development,” she said. “But it’s also important to have fun with what you do. Attitude and awareness are key. Be authentic and humble. Serve others and focus on making a difference.”

“Leadership is something that evolves. It’s important to remain curious, maintaining a growth mindset by approaching challenges as an opportunity to learn and develop your skills. Be brave, step into the unknown, and be open to what’s new and different. Keep your goals in front of you, and take action daily to move closer to achieving what’s most important to you. Remember, your most important step is your next step.”
