Loss Prevention Magazine to Celebrate 15th Anniversary at Upcoming Meeting

The 2016 Loss Prevention Magazine Annual Meeting is just around the corner. This year, the meeting will take place September 27-29 at the Sanibel Harbour Marriott Resort and Spa in Fort Myers, FL. More than 100 of the industry’s top retail and solution provider executives are scheduled to attend. This year’s event marks a major milestone as LP Magazine celebrates its fifteenth (!) year of publication. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in special anniversary activities and giveaways in addition to the usual golf, dinner with spouses, and quality networking time with industry peers.

Beyond the anniversary celebration, the event will focus on the evolution and future of the retail loss prevention. The LPM team will reveal the results of this year’s readership survey, and the magazine’s editorial and vendor advisory boards will meet to discuss the industry’s most critical issues. Two special speakers, Superintendent-in-Chief William Gross of the Boston Police Department and Mike Eruzione, former captain of the US national ice hockey team, will share lessons from their experiences on Wednesday evening. Eruzione’s team was the one that unexpectedly defeated the Soviet Union in the 1980 Winter Olympics; he scored the game-winning goal.

The LP Magazine meeting will also be sharing its venue with the Loss Prevention Foundation board of directors, as well as the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) Asset Protection Leaders Council (APLC) members. The APLC meeting will take place on Wednesday and will break down into three focus areas: total retail loss research, asset protection and e-commerce, and feature recognition technology. Retail executives will present insights on each of these focus areas, and the council will host roundtable discussions intended to address some of the industry’s most pressing questions, including:
• How relevant is Total Retail Loss research to your organization?
• What are the loss prevention challenges surrounding e-commerce?
• What is the true impact of feature matching technology?
Professor Adrian Beck from the Department of Criminology at the University of Leicester will provide an overview of recent total retail loss research findings and will facilitate some of the roundtable discussions.
