BSI Introduces BSI Cloud Connect Video Service

Best Security Industries (BSI), a premiere provider of certified, pre-owned and private label electronic article surveillance (EAS) systems and engineered IP video solutions, today announced the introduction of its new hosted video service designed for retail, BSI Cloud Connect. BSI Cloud Connect is part of a new family of smart, connect solutions that BSI is bringing to market, BSI Connect.

“Video solutions have long proven their value for retailers across a variety of departments ranging from loss prevention to merchandising, real estate and operations,” stated Matt Sack, BSI’s CEO. “Unfortunately for some organizations, the high cost of deployment is prohibitive for full scale rollouts or specialized applications. We feel confident that our new hosted video model will open the door for many retailers to capitalize on the value of video.”

BSI Cloud Connect allows customers to store and view live or recorded video remotely from a secure connection via smart phones, tablets or any computer with an Internet browser. Video from an IP-based camera is sent to a secure server via the Internet. The only equipment needed at a retailer’s site is a camera and Internet connection. This delivers a cost-effective way to store video without having to purchase and maintain additional onsite servers, DVRs or NVRs. The solution can be self-installed by the retailer through a 1-Click application or by BSI technicians.

The solution is further enhanced by Axis Communications’ award winning Zipstream technology. Axis’ Zipstream technology optimizes a network camera’s video stream in real time to further enhance H.264’s bandwidth savings, while keeping the highest quality video intact. Axis’ Zipstream technology can lower bandwidth and storage requirements by an average of 50% or more.

“Axis has been migrating solutions to the cloud for some time now,” said Hedgie Bartol, Business Development Manager, Retail, Axis Communications, Inc. “We see a promising future for retail solutions and the cloud and BSI Cloud Connect is an excellent example of how this all comes together through our partnership.”

In order to remain PCI Compliant, most retailers are required to store video from certain aspects of their business for a pre-determined amount of time in case of a data breach. By deploying BSI Cloud Connect, a retailer can reduce the burden of storing this video on the local DVR or NVR. BSI has designed a targeted solution specifically designed and priced for this particular application that can help offset the cost and storage requirements retailers face while maintaining PCI Compliance.

“BSI prides itself by delivering both quality and innovation in everything we do. We are not the typical integrator that only sells standard solutions. We are constantly educating ourselves in the latest technology and delivering it to our customers to make sure they are getting the most out of their investment with us,” concluded Sack.

BSI will showcase this new solution at NRF Protect, June 14-16, 2016 in Philadelphia. Stop by Booth #1401 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center to learn more.
