March Networks Introduces New MegaPX DPoC MicroDome IP Camera

March Networks®, a global provider of intelligent IP video solutions, is pleased to introduce its new MegaPX DPoC MicroDome. The IP camera is the industry’s first 3MP, video over coax surveillance camera to support the HomePlug AV / IEEE 1901 standard, enabling it to transmit video and audio in daisy-chain or loop configurations over a single analog cable. The camera saves organizations the expense and disruption typically required to replace existing coaxial lines with Ethernet to capture high-resolution video, and can reduce installation times by 75% or more.

“Most organizations would prefer to have high-definition surveillance video, however many are unable to justify the costs and interruptions associated with ripping out their coaxial cable to make it happen,” said Nathan Dinning, March Networks Edge Devices Product Manager. “Running new Ethernet lines in heritage buildings or underground transportation tunnels, for example, can be extremely difficult. Doing the same in a hospital or school is also a challenge, as installers are often dealing with requirements like HEPA tents to ensure health and safety standards are met while work is being done. Our new MegaPX DPoC MicroDome makes it easy for organizations to adopt HD video much faster and more easily.”

The MegaPX DPoC MicroDome works in conjunction with an NVT transceiver to stream IP video and audio over coaxial cable and convert the data back to digital Ethernet before archiving on a network video recorder or server. In addition to multi-channel configurations, it can also be installed point-to-point to transmit video over as much as 2,000 feet / 609 meters via a single coaxial cable.

The camera combines Wide Dynamic Range and True Day/Night technology with progressive scan in high resolution to provide excellent image quality in dynamic lighting conditions, including bright backlight and near darkness. It also incorporates a P-Iris to produce images with high contrast, clarity, resolution and depth of field.

Consistent with March Networks’ reputation for best-in-class reliability, the MegaPX DPoC MicroDome comes with an IK10 vandal-resistant housing, and includes an internal microSDXC for recording redundancy. When the camera is used as part of a complete March Networks Command™ video management solution, customers can also seamlessly access video recorded on the internal card using the company’s innovative Shadow Archive feature, and automatically restore that video to the recorder following a network outage.
