LP Magazine continues to expand its expertise and leadership role in the media, publishing and loss prevention news space through its two most recent key additions to the LP Magazine team. “It’s an exciting time for LP Magazine, not only are we in the 15th year of operation — from a time when we operated like a start-up with just 2 people on payroll with freelancers helping us — to today, where we have a full team, with years of collective experience and expertise.”
Garett Seivold
Garett Seivold is a veteran journalist in the corporate security space. Since 1998 he has been the principal writer and editor of what evolved into the Security Director’s Report (SDR). Last year the magazine acquired the SDR, which has primarily published a subscription-based monthly printed newsletter as well as in-depth special reports based on proprietary research.
We are currently transitioning away from the printed newsletter to a more frequent digital newsletter that will be made available to the larger LP Magazine audience. While much of the content is not retail loss prevention specific, it will benefit those in our industry who are responsible for physical security, data protection, executive protection, and other corporate security-related activities.
Garett will also contribute to the magazine by writing feature articles, as well as assist with surveys and industry research we do for ourselves or in partnership with others. Adding an experienced journalist to our team will only make our content stronger and widen our appeal to a larger security audience.
Kelsey Seidler
Kelsey Seidler joined our team last summer as our online managing editor to help us develop our new digital platform that launched in fourth quarter 2015. She’s a millennial who grew up in today’s digital world with experience editing digital content for BNP Media, a large publisher of multiple business-to-business magazines.
At the same time she is completing her master’s degree in technology and communication from the University of North Carolina’s School of Media and Journalism. Like Garett, who also happens to be a graduate in journalism from Chapel Hill, we are extremely happy to have Kelsey bring her skills and youthful energy to the magazine team.
Right now Kelsey’s role is more behind the scenes as we transition from our old to our new digital platform. However, you should expect to see her name associated with original editorial content as our digital products mature, and she becomes more familiar with the retail loss prevention space.
Digital and EyeOnLP Team
Garett and Kelsey are the newest members of the magazine team. They join Jacque Brittain, LPC, and John Selevitch, who have worked for the magazine for several years supporting our digital and social media channels, webinars, and editorial content.
Our EyeOnLP video team that includes Kat Houston, LPQ; Justin Kemp, LPQ; and Karen Rondeau are part-time, yet significant, magazine contributors we borrow from their full-time jobs with our sister organization LPM Media Group that produces internal awareness and employee training programs for retail LP organizations and solutions providers.
Working at a small business often requires wearing multiple hats and working long hours. We’ve done that for fifteen years and will continue to do so to provide the best communication products for the retail loss prevention—and now a broader security audience.
