Coverage of day two of the 2016 Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) Asset Protection Conference at the Gaylord Texan Convention Center near Dallas, Texas, by the EyeOnLP video team provides a summary of activities from University of Texas student projects to innovation awards to a peek at next year’s conference.
The 2016 event saw “record breaking attendance” according to Lisa LaBruno, RILA’s senior vice president of retail operations, with strong educational content. One of those sessions featured four graduate students from the McComb Business School at the University of Texas at Austin who presented the results of a big data project with 7-Eleven that looked at factors that predicted fraud. Hear two of those students discuss the project.
An inaugural innovation award program highlighted 12 new technology applications from solutions providers that were voted on by a team of industry judges as well as RILA’s horizon committee members. Retail attendees also voted on their top choice for the Retailer’s Choice Award. Profitect won both the judge’s top vote as well as the Retailer’s Choice Award. ClickIt was the judge’s second choice and Prism Skylab came in third.
