Shoplift, Attempted Carjacking Suspect Tried to Grab the Wrong Car

At 8:33 AM, deputies responded on the 100 block of Hidden Valley Parkway to a report of a petty theft. While searching for the suspect, another call for service was dispatched for a robbery in the 400 block of Hidden Valley Parkway with the same suspect description given, officials said.

At the latter spot, the suspect allegedly robbed the convenience store and its two female employees of their belongings, including car keys from one victim. However, the suspect was inadvertently trying to steal the wrong vehicle, the Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.

After arriving on the scene, Martinez made eye contact with a deputy and fled from the car, authorities said. After a foot pursuit, Martinez was detained without incident.
