The Kenner Police Department confirmed that a councilman was nearly run over in a Walmart parking lot while trying to thwart a shoplifter.

Kenner Police Department Public Information Officer Michael Cunnigham confirmed that last week councilman Mike Sigur confronted a man reported to have been fleeing with a friend who had shoplifted when the incident happened.
