Car Hit Employees as Theft Suspects Flee

Police made a public appeal for help Tuesday in identifying suspects who took merchandise from a store – and then hit employees with their car as they attempted to get away.

Eugene Police responded to Coastal Farm and Home Supply, 2200 West 7th Ave., on Sunday shortly after 4:30 PM to a report of a robbery. The two suspects – a man and a woman – had already left the scene in a Mazda sedan.

“During the incident, the male suspect was observed exiting the south side emergency door with a cart full of merchandise, causing the alarm to sound, and loaded the merchandise into the vehicle,” according to police. “The vehicle, with the woman driving, struck a fork lift, driven by a male employee, and as it backed into reverse from the forklift, struck a female employee in the arm.”

Police described the suspect vehicle as gunmetal grey, possibly a Mazda 5 or Mazda 6 “in sub-quality condition with hubcaps removed, and having damage to the driver side headlight lens and hood from the incident.” The car had a butterfly sticker on the back passenger side rear window.

The man is described as at least 6-foot-2 with a medium build, possibly late 30s; the woman had dirty blonde hair pulled back into a ponytail. Anyone with information about the vehicle or suspects is asked to call police at 541.682.5111 re: Case 20-10035…  KVAL13 News
