eBay partnered with the FBI and local police to break up a two-million dollar sports memorabilia fraud ring. Five Ohio residents have plead guilty to their roles in the criminal enterprise involving phony autographs and forged certificates of authenticity to be sold on eBay. Guilty pleas also included engaging in corrupt activity and money laundering. The five are awaiting sentencing. This is an ongoing investigation, which may involve other people, including a woman and her son who are suspected of masterminding the alleged fraud. Click here for more information about eBay’s Global Asset Protection team and PROACT program
