Five Charged in Alleged Shoplifting Ring

Jefferson City authorities say they have charged five suspects in connection with a major shoplifting incident at the Walmart store in that city early Thursday morning.

Shortly before 3 AM, Sergeant Jimmy Cardwell responded to a shoplifting complaint at the store on East Broadway Boulevard. As he arrived, Cardwell observed the suspect vehicle flee from the parking lot. When the driver ignored Cardwell’s command to stop, a pursuit ensued.

The suspect vehicle came to an abrupt stop on Beeler Avenue and the three occupants fled on foot.At that time, K-9 Corporal Tyler Hager and PO Dylan Bowen apprehended one of the passengers, and while doing so they observed another suspicious vehicle near the stop location. They quickly determined that vehicle was also involved in the original theft and immediately took all three occupants into custody.
