1 in Custody after Officer Hit by a Car Leads to Chase

A shoplifting suspect is in custody after dragging a Miami (Ohio) Township officer and leading local law enforcement agencies on a pursuit.

Just before 12:30 PM, a Miami Township police officers was helping loss prevention officers at JCPenney with the apprehension of a shoplifter. The suspect, an adult female, was able to break loose from officials and ran from the store.

The police officer chased her on foot, catching up with her as she tried to get into her vehicle. She wrestled away from him and managed to put the car in reverse, running over curbs and a tree while dragging the officer.

The suspect hit another vehicle as it was fleeing the mall parking lot and continued north on Mad River Road. A Miamisburg Police unit saw the car in the area of Mad River Road and David Road.

Units with Kettering Police, Miamisburg Police, and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office tried to stop the car. The pursuit came to an end on Rahn Road, west of Far Hills Road, when a Kettering Police unit utilized a pit maneuver, causing the vehicle to crash… WDTN2 News
