Multiple shoplifting suspects have been arrested in Georgia in connection to a massive shoplifting ring which spanned several cities in the Southeast. Retail shops in Columbus, Auburn, Opelika, Lagrange and Montgomery were targeted in the scheme.
Nearly a dozen suspects are seen on surveillance video taking the goods from stores like Macy’s and Dillard’s at Peachtree Mall and shops at Columbus Park Crossing. Police Major JD Hawk credited store security for the quick identification of the suspects.
“They had repeatedly noticed the same individuals coming in stealing from their store and making off with their goods and then they would take the stuff and either try and return it at different stores in these different cities or they would go on and try to sell the stuff on either Facebook or online sale sites,” Major Hawk said. “You go into most stores nowadays there’s cameras everywhere and you might get away with it right then and get out that door but in this case they were already out the door and gone with the stuff and guess what? They’re going to jail,” Major Hawk said… WLTZ38 First News
