Editor’s Note: September 25 marks the first national “If You See Something, Say Something” Awareness Day. Homeland security starts with hometown security, and it’s our shared responsibility to protect our everyday. By reporting suspicious activity to your management teams and local law enforcement when appropriate, you play a critical role in keeping your stores and your community safe for everyone. Please see the below message from DHS regarding awareness day education.
The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has designated September 25 as national “If You See Something, Say Something®” Awareness Day to further increase the awareness of behavioral indicators of terrorism and the importance of the public reporting suspicious activity.
The Department decided to launch this Awareness Day initiative to elicit national attention to the “If You See Something, Say Something” Campaign and empower citizens, organizations and agencies to discuss the importance of reporting suspicious activity in their communities and places of employment.
