Women Pepper-Sprayed Employee; Made off with $100K Worth of Designer Handbags

Charges were filed Monday against two women accused of stealing $100,000 worth of designer purses from a Salt Lake City store.

Akaija Mshea-Beverli Elder,18, and Akaila Maisunxian Elder, 20, both of Fairfield, California were charged with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, in the Third District Court, according to the documents.

One of the women tried to distract the employee while the other “cut cords of several bags and attempted to pull a purse from the shelf,” charging documents state. When the employee realized what was going on, she told the women to stop, at which point the women sprayed the employee in the face with pepper spray.

The women then grabbed $104,400 worth of designer purses and fled, the documents state. An arrest warrant was issued on Monday for Akaija Elder, who is believed to be in California…  KUTV2 News
