Three Arrested After Ramming Vehicle into Patrol Car and Fleeing

A suspect in a shoplifting rammed a patrol car with his vehicle and ran from the scene before being arrested early Sunday, police say.

Authorities were initially called to a shoplifting report at 4:30 AM on the 1900 block of East 12th Street, police spokesman Sam Clemens said.

When officers arrived, they spotted a truck that had been reported stolen in the Super 8 Motel parking lot, Clemens said. The driver of the truck, 18-year-old Jerius Josiah Swifteagle, from Sioux Falls, rammed into the patrol car twice, lodging the truck into the car, Clemens said.
