The Loss Prevention Foundation (LPF) announced that Northern Michigan University has agreed to waive the Loss Prevention Management (LPM) 101 prerequisite for anyone who is LPQ or LPC certified. This enables the student to take the advanced courses without the LPM 101 prerequisite. This announcement still allows students ample time to apply for next semester, which starts mid-January.

“We are very pleased and excited to see that Northern Michigan University has recognized the value of our LPQ and LPC certification courses. We look forward to partnering with NMU so that we can both continue to advance our profession by providing a quality degree program easier for working professionals,” stated Gene Smith, LPC, president of the Loss Prevention Foundation.

“It is our pleasure to partner with LPF to further our joint goal of advancing the loss prevention / asset protection profession. NMU supports the industry through research, encouraging traditional on-campus students to consider it as a career, and offering a loss prevention degree,” said Bob Hanson, professor and Loss Prevention degree coordinator.

“Having our Bachelor of Science in Loss Prevention Management degree online allows students to fit school around previous commitments such as work and family, without totally disengaging them from their everyday life. Combine that with faculty who are easily accessible and willing to help students ease back into school, and they find transitioning back into higher education a great experience. We have a generous transfer policy from accredited community colleges and universities and individualized academic advising.”

“I am especially excited about this partnership because I was involved in developing the NMU loss prevention degree program and I am also LPC certified. Through education and industry partnerships, we continue to elevate our profession.” said Tina Sellers, JD, LPC, director of loss prevention, Delhaize America.
