Target and Other National Retailers Join with the Retail Cyber Intelligence Sharing Center to Fight Cyber Attacks

The Retail Cyber Intelligence Sharing Center (R-CISC) teamed up with Target to host the first Retail Cybersecurity Analyst Hunting Expedition, supporting cyber security specialists in detecting and preventing retail cyber-attacks.

The R-CISC Analyst Hunting Expedition was a member-exclusive forum held at Target’s headquarters in Minneapolis. Numerous top retailers gathered to evaluate how they are currently managing threat intelligence, detection, mitigation, and response. Event partner and security intelligence provider, Securonix, presented insights about specific insider threats within the industry.

Brad Maiorino, Target’s Senior Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer, is the newest member of the R-CISC’s Board of Directors. Maiorino joins existing leadership from major retail organizations including AutoNation, Gap Inc., JCPenney, Levi Strauss & Co., Lowes, MGM Resorts International, Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA), TJX Companies, Inc., Uphold and Walgreens.

“The threat landscape continues to evolve with more frequent and sophisticated attacks, and this isn’t something one organization can combat alone,” said Maiorino. “I am looking forward to working alongside my peers to strengthen the industry’s collective defense against potential threats.”

“The collaboration occurring within the R-CISC is steadily increasing our abilities to prevent successful cyber attacks across our industry,” said Brian Engle, R-CISC Executive Director. “Target and the other participants are sharing threat intelligence that enables effective prioritization, and decisive actions, focusing on the most relevant and pertinent threats.”

The Retail Cyber Intelligence Sharing Center is an organization of more than 50 members representing major retail and other consumer-facing companies. The organization provides a network for its members to communicate about cyber threats and vulnerabilities, and to share best practices in data protection and breach mitigation.
