Interview and Interrogation Training: Translate Your WZ Skills

This week’s International Association of Interviewers interview and interrogation training tip provided by Wicklander-Zulawski, has Dave Thompson, CFI discussing how you can translate your WZ skills to other situations.

Interviewers have a unique set of skills, however it doesn’t mean they only apply in unique circumstances. Dave discusses the similarity of strategizing and conducting an interview to planning a sales pitch or business conversation. Identifying objections and resistance from the subject is something that interviewers are accustomed to, and could easily be applied to everyday conversations.

As we see resistance in an interview, we may show understanding to the subject which is a similar approach in a sale or negotiation. Whether we are conducting an interrogation or attempting to sell a widget, our goal in that conversation is the same: to identify the truth.
