This year, the International Association of Interviewers (IAI) is launching IAI’s Southeast Chapter. This regional chapter will support the continued education, networking, and career advancement initiatives for IAI members in the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
The first ever chapter meeting will be on the campus of UNC-Charlotte in Charlotte, North Carolina on Friday, May 5th from 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. This is a great opportunity to network with industry professionals from the public and private sector, and there’s no cost to attend. Interested in learning more about IAI membership? While the event is designed for IAI members, anyone with an interest in joining IAI or becoming CFI certified is invited to join. There will be limited availability for attendees, so register early and don’t miss out!
Two speakers are currently scheduled for this event. W-Z Instructor Tony Paixao, CFI, will be speaking on the latest updates to the W-Z interviewing method. Former W-Z instructor and author, Mike Reddington, CFI, will be there as well, discussing his book, “The Disciplined Listening Method.” CFI scholarships will also be awarded, along with some CFI swag.
Recognizing the need for ongoing education and collaboration among individuals whose job responsibilities include interviewing, interrogation, and investigations, IAI was created to become a knowledge and skills development resource for its members. Through the Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI) designation, all members gain the ability to raise their level of expertise while connecting to the robust experience of CFI-certified thought leaders. However, a CFI designation is not required for IAI membership.
IAI’s Southeast Chapter also has plans for future meetings this year, with an event in Atlanta in August as well as Orlando in November. You can obtain additional information on this chapter by joining the LinkedIn page. Stay tuned for more information on these upcoming events as IAI looks to reach out to members in various locations across the Southeast.
