Employee Charged with Stealing $25,000 from Store

Patricia Ann Martin, 38, Little Falls, Minnesota, is facing a felony theft charge in Morrison County District Court. The charge stems from a May 21 incident, when the Little Falls Police Department received a report of theft by an employee from a business in Little Falls.

A loss prevention associate at the store allegedly said three cash refunds were rung up by Martin when no customers were present and the transactions were on surveillance video. The store reviewed activity by Martin during other shifts and allegedly found that from Feb. 24 through May 5, Martin worked 45 shifts and stole an average of $164.49 during each of 43 shifts. In total, Martin allegedly received $7,402.09 in cash from fraudulent refunds.

The loss prevention associate spoke with Martin, who allegedly said she began stealing an average of $100 per shift beginning in December 2018. The store conducted an analysis of store shortages while Martin was working from January 2018 to February 2019 and allegedly estimated a total of $25,004.03 was stolen by Martin from the store. If convicted, Martin could face up to 10 years in prison and/or a $20,000 fine… Mission County Record
