Employee Charged with Embezzlement

Two men from LaSalle, Michigan, were arrested in connection with allegedly embezzling nearly $5,000 worth of merchandise from the Meijer store in Frenchtown Township where one of the men worked for the past year.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the two men were caught recently removing $300 worth of frozen foods from the store at 1700 N. Telegraph Rd. and not paying for the items

Store personnel had been watching the employee, who handles bagging chores and collecting carts, for the past month through a video surveillance camera, deputies said. They told deputies they had documented a dozen cases of the employee embezzling goods and not paying for them.
