Employee Arrested in Connection with $6.7K Theft

Two teenagers are accused of stealing at least 160 items in less than one month from an Academy Sports and Outdoors store and returning them for cash totaling $6,700, according to an arrest affidavit.

Daniel Felipe Guerrero Urrea and Breeonna Marie Stimpson-Leavitt, both 18, were charged with theft between $2,500 and $30,000.

Police said Stimpson-Leavitt would show up and select in-store merchandise to take to Urrea, who worked at the store as a cashier. Urrea would issue a fraudulent credit or cash refund for the stolen items and would occasionally bag up the items, allowing Stimpson-Leavitt to steal both the items and money, the affidavit said.
