A man and a woman, both in their 20s, may have a date with a Solano County Superior Court judge in connection to the alleged theft Saturday afternoon of an estimated $2,000 worth of clothing from the jcpenney store at the Solano Town Center.
According to a Fairfield Police Department social media post, officers responded to the 1350 Travis Blvd. store area on a report of retail theft at the Fairfield mall. As officers arrived, one of the suspects, later identified as Jaden Brumfield, 20, of Berkeley, fled on foot eastbound onto the boulevard.
During the foot chase, Brumfield reportedly discarded a Glock-style handgun in the center median. He was then taken into custody a short distance away.
An alert citizen driving in the area saw Brumfield discard the gun, said Lieutenant Jausiah Jacobsen, public information officer for the Fairfield Police Department. The citizen stopped and helped officers find the firearm, a 9MM, with a loaded magazine.
During the investigation, it was discovered Brumfield and a female accomplice, identified as Monezha Crump, 24, of Sacramento, had stolen approximately $2,000 in clothing, all of which was recovered.
Jacobsen said Brumfield and Crump were booked into Solano County Jail on suspicion of several felonies: Brumfield for felony shoplifting, conspiracy to commit a crime, and numerous firearms violations; and Crump for felony shoplifting and conspiracy to commit a crime, Jacobsen said… The Reporter
